We want to help you keep the summer full of fun! James City County is offering nearly 100 exciting camps this summer! Camps were are listed below by week offered, and then by age.

Week of June 24

Little Tykes Summer Camp • Ages 3-5
Monday-Thursday, June 24-27, 1:30-4:30 p.m.
$65; $60 for JC/W residents
James City County Recreation Center
A super fun pre-K camp with creative arts and crafts, outdoor play, music and interactive stories! Come join the weekly adventures! Children must be toilet trained. 700010-A

Busy Bodies - Youth Fitness Fun Camp • Ages 4-6 New!
Monday-Thursday, June 24-27, 9-11 a.m.
$45; $40 for JC/W residents

This class is specially designed to allow your child to channel their high level of energy into fitness fun activities! They’ll build fitness skills, coordination, learn about healthy habits and participate in motor skill and agility games. We’ll build healthy habits to last a lifetime while getting those wiggles out! REC Connect Summer Camp • For ages 5-14 (must have completed kindergarten)
Registrations accepted on a space available basis. Our licensed camps run Monday-Friday, June 17-Aug. 23, 7 a.m.-6 p.m. at 5 elementary schools: Clara Byrd Baker, J. B. Blayton, Laurel Lane, Matoaka and Stonehouse and one middle school James Blair. Weekly fees: Full-time (4 or 5 days) – $115/week; $110 for JC/W residents and includes field trip fees. $10 discount is available for second and subsequent children in the same family attending full-time. Part-time (3 days or less) – $95/week; $90 for JC/W residents and includes field trip fees. Download registration forms online or pick up at the James City County Recreation Center, the Freedom Park Interpretive Center or Satellite Services in Toano. Revolving around soccer-related games, activities, trainings and competitions, this camp includes instruction on the fundamentals of soccer and is designed to meet the needs of beginner, developmental, recreational and advanced soccer players. All participants receive a Legacy Camp shirt and free soccer ball! Participants will be indoors and outdoors. Full-day camps include use of the Center pool.

Campout! • Ages 8-12 New!

Chickahominy Riverfront Park
Learn the basics of setting up camp, outdoor cooking, hiking, geocaching, fishing and canoe or kayak during this outdoor education week. This camp includes an overnight option for those campers interested. Monday-Wednesday, the camp will run 1-4 p.m. After 4 p.m. on Wednesday, campers can stay through the overnight portion where they’ll cook dinner over the campfire, roast s’mores and star-gaze. Final pick up will be Thursday at noon. Parks & Recreation instructors and the outdoor coordinator will be on site for the overnight stay. Campers also need to be prepared to swim at one of our pools on Wednesday. All materials needed for the week will be provided. Any food allergies or special dietary concerns need to be addressed before drop off at camp. 806300-C

4-H Challenge & Adventure • Ages 9-12

Jamestown 4-H Educational Center
Join the staff at the Jamestown 4-H Educational Center for a week of challenge and adventure! Staff will provide encouragement and guidance helping participants to reach success on the course while making new friends and building relationships with peers. Adventure participants work as a team to develop skills and gain confidence while accomplishing seemingly impossible tasks! Come out to play, laugh and build lasting friendships. With 4 days of adventure and team building, campers will travel to Richmond for whitewater rafting, kayaking, gorilla swinging, stand-up paddle boarding and more all while taking in a bit of the history the capital has to offer. The first day is for team-building, hiking and geocaching and on the remaining days campers will be transported to Riverside Outfitters for their daily activities. All activities on the river are weather and flood height dependent and may be subject to change. 806300-D

Math Meets Science • Ages 8-11

Athletes Global Practical Self Defense Camp • Ages 8-16

Our camp combines practical self-defense techniques, MMA Bootcamp fitness and mental and physical stamina drawn from Boxing, Karate, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, Kickboxing and Grappling training to provide participants with world-class mixed martial arts instruction. Horse Care Camp • Ages 9+

Learn the daily routine of feeding, handling and barn chores in a large boarding and lesson barn. After taking care of the horses each morning, students will have a group riding lesson. Nature in Your Backyard • Ages 6-9

Learn about the plants and animals in your backyard! We’ll explore a different aspect of nature each day, and will create our own field guide and make our own trail mix! James City County Parks & Recreation staff and the Virginia Master Naturalists will lead participants on nature walks and other fun-filled activities. Athletes Global Basketball Skills Training Camp • Ages 6-16

This camp will focus on shooting mechanics, one-on-one defense, scoring, ball handling, passing, mental preparation, fitness, conditioning, speed, agility training and much more. Chickahominy Riverfront Park
Join local anglers for an introduction to all things fishing! “Tackle” topics such as knot-tying, baiting, casting, species identification and conservation in this hands-on (the rod) approach. Campers will experience different fishing environments including both fresh and salt water at different locations in the surrounding areas. Hooker Bait & Tackle will assist in activities and instruction along with our very own park rangers providing guidance and education about the surrounding natural habitats! 806300-F

Archaeology Camp • Ages 9-12

Piece together local history during this opportunity to work an active archaeological dig site overlooking the James River. Learn how to dig, wash, identify, number and piece together artifacts you find and display them in the “Museum of Discovery.” Thursday field trip to Historic Jamestowne where participants will have a special tour and program focused on the pieces they discovered throughout the week. 806300-E

The focus of the Mighty Girls Yoga Camp is to help increase self-confidence while learning to grow in peace as you build strength and resilience from the inside out. We’ll learn the physical, mental and social benefits of yoga and mindfulness practices within a safe, cooperative, accepting environment. Explore individual, partner and group yoga poses in the beautiful outdoors of Freedom Park. Discover your strengths through journaling, meditation, yoga games and art activities. We’ll support each other as we learn about ourselves. We’ll collaborate on how to become agents of peace within the community and leaders in our lives. Learn about the many different species of wildlife and their adaptions for survival. Come explore land, water and sky to discover predator and prey relationships, habitat diversity and survival. This is a hands-on program in which campers get to collect, identify and study fascinating marine creatures up close and personal! Try seining on the James River, searching for tracks along the wetlands walkway or build a bird’s nest and discover how amazing our furred and feathered friends can be! Wacky Sports Camp • Ages 10-13

Archery Camp • Ages 10-14

From safety to technique development, this half-day camp teaches the way of the bow. Hone techniques as well as develop strength, balance and comfort holding the bow in this introduction to basic recurve archery. Campers will travel to different parks and range areas where they’ll also explore other elements of archery including flight and roving. The archery camp tournament will be held on Friday. Campers will meet each morning at the archery range set up behind the Warhill Sports Complex baseball fields. 806300-L

Science & Engineering Adventures Camp • Ages 11-14
Monday-Friday, Aug. 5-9, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

This SUP class introduces kids to a whole new way on the water! Paddleboarding is all about balance, so age is not a barrier to becoming proficient at this cool sport. We’ll teach kids all about Stand Up Paddleboarding from the anatomy of the board and paddle, how to paddle out, proper stance and paddling techniques all while learning water safety out on the boards.
