The James City County Recreation Center indoor pool is 25 meter by 25 yards with 12, 25 yard lap lanes and a temperature of 84-85 degrees year round. With a maximum depth of 4.5 feet, the pool is ideal for lap swimming, water walking and much more. The pool also has a connected splash pool area with a zero depth entry and a maximum depth of 3 feet. The aquatics area has two hot tubs with temperatures of 104 degrees. The pool and one hot tub have ADA lifts for easy access for enjoyment for everyone!

Swimming & Water Fitness

James City County offers a variety of swimming and water fitness classes for ages 6 months to adults. Free swim evaluations are offered during each registration period. Individuals who will be participating in a beginner level class (i.e. Preschool Level 1, Level 1 – Introduction to Water Safety and Parent & Child) do not need a swim evaluation and can sign-up for group lessons at any time during the registration period. The current group swim lesson flyer and monthly water fitness calendar are located at the bottom of the aquatics webpage. Classes are held at the James City County Recreation Center.

Swim Teams

James City County Parks & Recreation has three affiliate group swim teams. Williamsburg Aquatics Club, Coast Guard Blue Dolphins and 757 Swim teams all use the indoor pool for training year-round. No swim meets are held at the indoor pool. For practice times, see the monthly pool calendar below. 

Online Reservations!

Reservations are no longer required for lap swimming; the pool will now have a limited number of lanes available for guests without a reservation. Those lanes require lane sharing. Pool reservations are for 1 person per lane. You may share a lane with up to 2 additional friends or family members for a maximum of 3 people per lane. Reservations are held for the first 5 minutes of each session then released to the public. Reservations open every Sunday at 2 p.m. for the following week (Monday-Sunday).  Click on the logo on the right to reserve your time.
