Williamsburg Landing Begins Expansion Project

Williamsburg Landing

James City County is pleased to announce that Williamsburg Landing has kicked off the first of three phases of its expansion project with a ribbon cutting for its new Memory Support Home for 24 Williamsburg Landing residents. The expansion project will continue with the opening of a licensed Adult Day Center opening in early 2018. The Adult Day Center will be the only one of its kind in the area and will be offered to all those aged 50+ in the Greater Williamsburg region. Later in 2018, a 29-room expansion of residential Assisted Living and a 15-bed specialized short-term skilled rehabilitation section will open.

Once finished in mid-2018, the expansion project will add 100,000 square feet, nearly doubling Williamsburg Landing’s existing Health & Rehabilitation Center. The expansion will add approximately 75 new full-time employees. The total project, estimated at a cost of $42 million, is utilizing local construction and engineering firms.

“The expansion continues a 30+ year tradition of carefully planned growth of facilities and services. With the significant expected growth of the senior population in Williamsburg, this project maintains our leadership commitment to innovative programs and services for seniors and positions the community to address the changing needs of residents,” said Greg Storer, President/CEO of Williamsburg Landing.

Williamsburg Landing is a Life Plan Community (formerly known as Continuing Care Retirement Community) that opened in James City County in 1985. Williamsburg Landing residents enjoy a vibrant independent lifestyle complemented by comprehensive onsite healthcare. Williamsburg Landing is the first and only accredited Life Plan Community in Hampton Roads. Its accreditation is from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, the nation’s only accrediting body for Life Plan Communities.
